Opposite of what was expected, summer has turned out to be kind of a lull around here. For me this is due to working a full time job, a part time internship, and a few web design clients keeping me extremely busy. Hopefully what I'm about to announce will help bring some spirit back into the clan.

I had spent the past few weeks attempting to get a good tournament and team system built into the website to make things easier, but the plugins are proving to either not be what I had hoped for or just don't work well. So I'm going to go ahead and go old school with this.

    Introducing Seasonal Leagues
Each season of the year, we will be having a 2v2 league-style tournament. This means that there will be 2 divisions in which teams will be placed, based on overall skill. Each team will play a match against each team in their division once. The top two teams with the most wins will advance to the final stage, which will then be a single elimination tournament.

The winning team of the final stage will be named the champion of the season's league, will get a trophy on their member page, and be showcased on the event's page.

These leagues will take place (hopefully) in each season of the year: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. The teams can change from season to season, since our clan roster changes a lot between getting new members and losing others.

Teams will be chosen by you. Find a partner you want to fight with. If your first choice says they already have a partner, don't take it personally. I realize this can turn into the classroom situation where 2 people couldn't find a partner and are forced to pick each other. The good part of that is, we are all (hopefully) friends here and it shouldn't be much of a burden. Some teams will seem stacked compared to others. That's just how it works. This tournament is for fun, but it will definitely be quite competitive, especially when we get to the final stage.

    Summer 2017 League
The first season will be Summer 2017. It is officially summer now, so we will be starting next week! You will have all this week to find a partner, pick a team name, and sign up. I encourage all members to participate. The more teams we have, the longer this will go on and produce more competition.

    How do we sign up?
Once you find a partner, pick a team name. My rules for team names is to make it fairly short and simple, and not offensive. If I need to rename a team, you probably won't like what I change it to. :p

You will need to make a Challonge account. This is the website that we use for tournament brackets. Make an account and register a team. Click the link below to do both of those:

Sign Up For Summer 2017 League

    Signups are closed
Once we get enough teams signed up, I'll post regarding next steps. Keep in mind, we can only do this if enough people sign up! Please do so!

Please read this new post regarding info and rules and the bracket for the league:

I'd like to clarify that this will take place throughout July. It's not going to happen all in one day. If you are busy for a few days in July, that's fine. Matches will be played when convenient for all. More details on rules later.

Sign ups will close on Sunday.

I only see three teams mentioned, two are listed just before you said there are four teams. That would make Rayce and Kato the fifth.. or am I bad at math? Should be five, I see three listed.

Not everyone posted here that they signed up. If you look at that link above, it'll show the current lineup.

Alright! Thanks to those that signed up! We have 6 teams, which is exactly the minimum I was hoping for. This will result in a pretty good sized league. So here's how this will work. Each team will play the other teams in their division/group once. Since there are 6 teams, the divisions are split into 3's.

So 3 teams in each division, you should play a total of 2 matches in the first stage.

After both divisions finish all of those matches, the top 2 teams from each division will then proceed to the final stage, which will be a single elimination bracket. The team that wins that bracket will be crowned champion, with second place also being acknowledged. The winners will get a trophy on their member page, as well as show in a new event page.

    Scheduling
The teams participating in the next match will need to schedule a day and time to play it, and make sure you are all online when you do so. Keep in mind that this league can't continue until your matches are played, so if you take a month to play a match, that's a whole month that everyone else is waiting. Send a quick message on discord to your opponents to see when they'd like to play. You can create a group chat with everyone involved. You can PM them here on the forum as well.

You don't have to play the rounds in order. If you look at the bracket at the end of this post, you will see the order, but since each round is with a different opponent, you can do them whenever. So if your round 3 opponent is available but the round 1 opponent isn't, you can go ahead with your round 3 match.

    Scoring
    • Matches will be played First to 3. This means that the score can end up being 3-2, total of 5 rounds played maximum.
    • Sets will be played first to 21 frags with a time limit of 10 minutes.
    • All sets will need to be demoed. If you'd prefer to not risk lagging while recording a demo, ask someone that isn't playing to record the demo. This is required. If you do not record a demo, you may need to rematch. This is for proof of play, but also maybe for a future video.
    • You are allowed to report your own scores into Challonge, but make sure everything you put there is accurate. You need to have scores for sets and the match. If you don't want to bother, just tell me the scores.
    Rules
    • Show up if you say you will. I know emergencies can happen, but if you say you will show up and then we see you playing a different game on Discord/Steam instead and refuse to play, your team may get disqualified, which will ruin the whole thing.
    • Be a good sport. This is competitive, yes, but things can be competitive and still fun. Losing and then saying "Oh well, I only did this for fun" is not being a good sport, it's a silly statement. You can have fun and still compete. That's the whole point. Try your best, and be a good winner and loser. Seeing people be bad sports makes me not want to host these events.
    • Be honest. This goes without saying. I will not be observing every match. Record demos as proof of score. If someone reports the wrong score, speak up if you notice it. Perhaps take your own screenshots as a backup of proof.
    • Record demos of each match. I already said this but it's a rule. All matches must be recorded either by a player or a spectator. Get someone on the server to help if needed.
    • If you must leave a match early for any reason, be sure it's a good reason but also take the initiative to reschedule, when you become available. Any rescheduled matches will have to start completely over. If you were at 2-2, start over. This ensures consistency.
    • You can switch saber styles (single/staff/dual) at any point in a match.
    • You must use a normal saber. No hockey sticks, shovels, or anything.
    • You must participate in the match. No subs are allowed. No running and hiding in a corner. Avoiding getting killed is one thing, but avoiding playing at all is another.
    • Any spectators must keep their chat in the spectator team chat (press T to team chat) during an active set. Once the set is done you can chat in public chat, until the next set begins.
    • HP and Shields must be turned off. If they're not and you are not an admin, ask an admin to turn them off.
    • All sets in a match must be done on the same map. All matches must be a base map, either FFA2 or FFA3.
    • All matches must be done on either our main server or our trial server. Setting a password is optional. TFFA mode attracts a lot of pushy players that will want to hop in because they think it's a PUG. Just be aware of that if you decide to not set a password. An admin will need to do that.
If any of these rules are not followed, you will need to rematch, or depending on the rule, will be disqualified. Play fair, have fun, record scores, and all will be well. Good hunting out there!

Added the rule prohibiting the use of the special weapons like hockey stick, shovel, pickaxe, etc. I figured that would be a common sense thing, but I guess I need to start covering *all* the things from now on.
